High Fashion Shoot

MOST TALENTED, BEAUTIFUL HEART.
This photo shoot was of a valued client. She continues to work her way up in the entertainment industry. I have worked with her several times over the course of six months and she has already been featured in a Music Video out of Savannah, GA. She is beautiful inside and out, and I was so blessed that she continued to value J.E.L. Makeup Artistry as her makeup artist. I appreciate the clients and connections I have made through the beginning of my makeup career. This photo shoot was the last project I had in Georgia. Thank you to Jesika D. Photography for making my work look wonderful in print.

May Project

Hi Everyone! This is a old project of mine, but since I've been busy moving out West I just now found the time to add a post.

The young lady featured in this photo was smiling big as her heart is full of accomplishment. She was a high school graduate that Jeskia D. Photography had the opportunity to shoot with. She had fun posing for the camera, just as I did in doing her makeup for the shoot! Congrats Kayla!

A Dorothy Dandridege Inspiration

This photo shoot was a success! While getting our inspiration for the photo shoot from the first African American Pin up girl, Charisma had hard shoes to fill. Charisma did an awesome job as the model for the shoot day. I absolutely LOVED her dress and her over all mood through the shoot. I really enjoyed this shoot. Before is a littlw brief history on Dorothy herself. I hope you enjoy!

Dorothy Jean Dandridge (November 9, 1922 – September 8, 1965) was an American actress and popular singer, and was the first African American to be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress.[1]

She performed as a vocalist in venues such as the Cotton Club and the Apollo Theater. In 1954, she was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress and a BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role for Carmen Jones, and, in 1959, was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture Musical or Comedy for Porgy and Bess. In 1999, she was the subject of the HBO biopic Introducing Dorothy Dandridge. She has been recognized on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Early 20s? Start firming now!

So ladies out there, DON'T WAIT until you're in your 40s to start using a wrinkle cream. I am only 22 and have NO wrinkles, but I want to stop them before they start. I may not be able to prevent them from coming, but I can delay the process. Your body ages in the pace of how well you take care of it. This particular Olay Night Firming cream is a soft non-harsh way to keep your skin firm. Another great benefit from using a firming moisturizer is that you sleep in it and the next day your makeup goes on with perfection.

OLAY age defying anti-wrinkle replenishing night cream

* Dermatologist tested
* Oil-free
* Won't Clog Pores

VISIBLE RESULTS
Renews skin's appearance at night when it needs it most while visibly reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles – awake to skin that looks younger, smoother and overall firmer.

PROVEN INGREDIENTS
Olay Anti-Wrinkle Replenishing Night Cream, with Pro-Retinol and Beta-Hydroxy, is a wrinkle fighting formula that works deep within the skin's surface to significantly reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Olay intense moisture with Vitamin E replenishes skin without added oil – leaving skin soft and smooth.

Try it out ladies. DON'T WAIT UNTIL IT'S TOO LATE! -JEL-

Lucky Brand Jeans Fashion Show to Benefit MDA.

I would like everyone to take time out and think about people in the world who are less fortunate. I have the opportunity to work with the fashion organization at GSU on this benefit show that will take place next week. I will be helping host the event and hope to sell many $1 SHAMROCKS to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association. The Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) is an organization founded in 1950 which combats muscular dystrophy and diseases of the nervous system and muscular system in general by funding research, providing medical and community services, and educating health professionals and the general public.MDA is most famous for its long-running nationwide telethon it holds on Labor Day each year. Begun in 1966, it is hosted by actor and comedian, Jerry Lewis, who has supported the MDA, serving as its national chairman since its inception in 1950. Lewis' support has been so ironclad over the years that children and adults assisted by MDA are referred to as Jerry's Kids. In 2008, the annual Labor Day Telethon raised a record USD$65,031,393. In 2005, the MDA made the unprecedented decision to pledge $1 million of the Telethon's money raised to Hurricane Katrina disaster relief, making the donation specifically to the Salvation Army (though the Telethon also urged viewers to give to the American Red Cross). Therefore, with the efforts of our DIMES and the community we hope to help give the little that we are able to raise. Help us give back to the community by supporting us in an event full of networking and sharing the blessing we have while raising money for the less fortunate!

Reaction Photography: D.O.P.E.

"Like father, Like son"
I had the opportunity to work with the photographer from Reaction Photography again on set. This photo shoot started out as an entertainment group photo shoot, and ended up with lil man taking pictures with his daddy. I just wanted all males and females to know the importance behind photo shoot foundation. Males can wear makeup as well. When foundation is used before a photo shoot, you have less blemishes and touch-ups during edits. Anyway, I really enjoyed how the shots with his little boy turned out. I wanted to share them with you guys. Also, which I doubt you can notice. This male entertainer has on foundation, eye-liner and barely mascara! Hope you enjoy. I Love happy pictures.

"Elegance Shines Through"

Today's photo shoot had a GREAT turnout! Beautiful skys, beautiful photographer and models to work with. I'm very thankful for the ladies and my sis who helped out with this shoot today. Also, I would like to thank my wonderful husband for his support to all my dreams. Without him it would be hard to turn those dreams into reality.
Today's photo shoot was inspired from the other types of modeling I've been seeing around lately. Normally I only see single shots and models trying to look hard, mean, or too sexy. Sometimes beauty is the smile that comes from every unique person. My models today were not only beautiful on the outside, but had the personality to back the pretty face up. There is no need to TRY and be something you're not. Professional models have talent yes, but us normal ladies have far more beauty than most. Letting your unique character out through your eyes and personality shine through your smile is what I would like to call TRUE BEAUTY! Hope you enjoy the pics from today's photo shoot. -JEL-

"Expression is Beauty"

Hi Everyone, sorry it has been a minute since my last post; I've been extremely busy. Anyway, last week I was working along side with my wonderful sister on a photo shoot. FYI: Jesika D. Photography is my sister's photography business. We decided to get together with a few friends and have a photo shoot.
I want everyone to understand the importance of living out your dreams. Makeup and art is a talent I have, but a passion that I have begun to live out and make people smile when then say "WOW" after a glance in the mirror. "Expression is Beauty" it was the theme for our last shoot. The shoot wasn't anything big, but it is our passion to follow our dreams. Thank you to the lovely ladies who were the models; we couldn't have done it without you. Also, I have photo shoot tomorrow, that I hope it's AWESOME. I plan on posting them by next week. Hope you enjoy the new pics!!!

Get 'em Girlz Photo Shoot

Good evening Ladies, I hope everyone enjoyed the Georgia weather yesterday. I was in Savannah all day. :) Well back to business, the photo shoot on Thursday went great. I am still waiting on the disk so I can get good shots of my work, but I will post them once I have them. I worked with three girls this shoot from the Get 'em Girlz group. Michaella, Amber, and Isabelle were the three beautiful models I had to work with. They all three came to the shoot bare face and I started to work my magic. First, I let them wipe their face with a non-scented baby wipe to make sure we were working with a clean face. Then I waited until their face dried before applying a foundation. I would normally apply a toner or lotion before, but they already did their daily moisturizer. Then I took a new disposable foundation applicator to apply the foundation. Then I brushed on the blush and finished with a nice baked bronzer. Then came the eyes. I picked a color that would highlight their complexion and outfit, applied the lashes, and finished up with eyeliner and mascara. Last but not least the lips, used a high gloss that would show up on film. I hope the models enjoyed the shoot as much as I did making them even more beautiful!!! -JEL-

"Finding the right foundation color for your skin tone"

Well ladies, we already know they say there are three main skin tones; Fair, medium, and dark. The colors in foundations are a little more than complex than just three colors. You need to figure out the undertone of your skin, what needs highlighted, and what colors to avoid. I'm gonna start off with the Fair skin tones. These types of skin complexions work best with soft pink, tawny and beige tones. With a fair complexion it's important to remember to stay away from orangey colors. Moving onto Medium skin tones. This type of complexion is the easiest to match and can use the widest range of colors. Some makeup artist like to consider this complexion as an olive skin tone. There are many shades of olive, but most have a yellow under tone. If the under tone is yellow try to find a dewy shades of color with foundation names like caramel and honey. You don't want to end up with a muddy or orange brown color on your face so pick carefully. Now onto the dark tones. In this type of skin tone, the more spot on with foundation you have to be. You need to find a warm chocolate base and a red tone to counteract with your under tone. Well, hope you guys were able to learn something to help you find the perfect foundation! -JEL-

"Options for removing shine from your T-zone"

Good morning,
In the past couple weeks I have had several friends ask me how they get rid of the shine on their face? Therefore, with the hands on experience that I have and some minor research, check out my opinion and the link below to help you out with your T-zone shine problem. :)
I always tell my models you have two faces when it comes to the entertainment/fashion industry; everyday professional look and on the cat walk look. When you go to events you always need to wear a little more so if shows up on film but not blinding the camera with shine from your forehead etc. I have found that people with already natural flawless skin do well working with only concealer and a mineral powder foundation. Since you have naturally oily skin no need for a heavy tinted moisturizer. Use a very light oil-free face lotion.
This is a base so the makeup is applied evenly and light. Its very important to make sure the face is dry before applying any makeup. You may already use a lotion, I'm not sure. Another tip is clean your brushes on a regular basis. Everything you use them you are putting all the old oils back onto your face. Another problem I've seen with oily faces is the hair products being used so close to the face. Try to keep your canvas(your face :)) protected from any preventable contact with oils. If you do use liquid foundation... NEVER apply using your hands. Always use a sponge and throw them away daily. I would also recommend in quality applicators. Brushes from Sephora are awesome. One more great trick is to keep your eyeshadow vibrant and from sweating off by applying concealer to the lids before applying the color. If you really want the colors to pop use a black base all over the lid and then apply colors in pigments collections. Mac of course has a great variety. So, not really knowing what you're currently using that's all the tips I have lol. Let me know what you're using because if you're a fan of liquid base then a liquid moose might work as well for your skin type. I personally don't like heavy makeup but still want to achieve that flawless look for myself and my clients. Everyone has their preference so I'm here to help.

I was doing some research on how to block out shine and came across this. I forgot about the option to use the loose white powder that blocks shine as well. Anyway, check out the link below. There are more options you can try to help your t-zone! Hope you find something that works better!
